Hardeeville is a small unincorporated area on US-1 in the Port St. John corridor, one of the older named settlements on this stretch of the Indian River that predate the Port St. John plat. It was named, with Frontenac and Delespine, as one of the communities a Port St. John incorporation effort hoped to fold in, and like them it kept its own identity. The housing is a mix of 1950s and 1960s block homes on the river side of the highway, mobile homes, and 1970s and 1980s ranches on the side streets.
